The Bizarre World of John Cranley

Cincinnati's mayor< John Cranley, who has never proved he is a human and not a shape shifting alien chimera/lizard/bug/man thing, has concluded that an infrastructure project at $85,000 under budget, is a financial disaster.
He's made these claims before when he blew millions of $ to come up with the same numbers the 'incompetent' staff had already come up with.
In other news, he has halted a sewer project mid stream with no input from the Sewer District of county commissioners.
Maybe he just gets cranky this time of year because of all the elf jokes...

Slummin' in the Sketchbook

So be good for goodness' sake
I can't believe how legible my handwriting used to be. Anyway, time to get into the Christmas spirit & what better way than with a Santa hauling around a blood dripping axe.
Oh Ho Fucking Ho indeed...

A Christmas Tale

from The Queen of Romania's Fairy Book
Queen Marie of Romania was born in Kent in 1875 & later married to Prince Ferdinand of Romania in 1893. They later were made King & Queen of Romania. Queen Marie is considered directly responsible for Romania's military, well, not getting totally creamed, in WWI & subsequently making substantial territorial gains after the war. Later she took to writing & in 1923 published 'The Queen of Romania's Fairy Book'.
Chapter 4 was titled A Christmas Tale.
This is a very strange tale I have got to tell you today. It is about a mysterious well - a deep, deep well which lay in the centre of a dark forest. It is also a Christmas tale. No one knew why that well was there, nor who had dug it, nor how old it was.
The peasants from the villages around stood in great awe of this well, because from its depth a weird sound could be heard, a sort of moan, half sob, half gurgle, and sometimes a sound as though someone were knocking against its sides, which made you think of a lost soul in distress, perhaps held captive down there and unable to get out.
You can rad the whole story here

Gruß von Krampus !

sigh.....
Trust those wild and crazy Austrians to come up with a super cool Xmas holiday tradition like Krampus. Krampus, is, of course, Saint Nick's sidekick demon who dealt with the kids on the list who fell into the "naughty" category.

Nick died on the 6th of December so it is only logical that on Dec 5 we beckon his demon pal & scare the shit out of kiddies by telling them this is their last chance to be good or the zombie Nick won't give 'em treats but his bud, Krampus, will haul their asses of & beat the crap out of 'em.

What? Me worry?

I am guessing this little celebration was cooked up by Austrian matriarchs who wanted a bit of peace from the rugrats in the run-up to Xmas. That the celebration would leave the kids to their nightmares & leave the adults to revel in Bacchanalian festivities for the rest of the night was probably added by the patriarchs. Anyway, the cards used to celebrate the holiday just make it that much loonier.

Go on, boy, do what you want - but next time you see me coming, man....

Krampus Nacht is celebrated in Austria & some U.S. cities like San Francisco & somewhere in Florida. Why it isn't celebrated in Cincinnati is both obvious & odd (Christianity is so weird).
