Yes, friends, The Fishwarp is staying true to form and boycotting The Hamilton County Fair.
Actually a quick search indicates a local media blackout on the 160 year old event.

This year, the Fishwarp's entertainment Facebook page is even boycotting the fair.
In all fairness today is going to be a rain out so maybe the 'Warp can pile on some doom & gloom...
The Hamilton County Fair runs through August 9th in historic Carthage & will have performances by Galaxy Girl, The Naked Karate Girls, The Millennium Robots, various crafting seminars & other cool poo.

In an amazing semi turnaround, The Fishwarp has published a bland press release about the Hamilton County Fair without any gloom & doom horror stories.
Since the 4H abandoned the fair for fairly racist reasons, attendance at the fair has steadily risen. This, of course, takes some of the wind out of the sails of the blowhard 'Warp lamenting the slow agonizing death of the fair.
The one time a drunk fired a pistol in the air outside the entrance has drifted off the radar…
Maybe we might see some positive coverage later in the week!
Maybe the fair will update their website later this week...

And just did how such a program ended up funded by residents’ sewer bills?

The racist HamCo 4H apparently receives about $2,750 per member from the Metropolitan Sewer District. What political wisdom went into that is beyond me but with federal mandates & lack of revenue, the county is looking to cut that subsidy.
Last year, the 4H pulled out of the Hamilton County Fair & held their own. While the county fair attendance nearly doubled, the 4H fair had pretty miserable attendance. They pulled out of the county fair because they believed it was too dangerous and (& county commissioner Hartman agreed) it was not a proper place for families.
When A.B.Graham started his farming club in 1902, I doubt he intended it to become a cult of welfare queens. Still, the funding was moved from one pot to another so Kid Monzel's ideological posturing rings more hollow than usual.

And the First Salvo is Fired

The Fishwrap, AKA the Area Around Cincinnati Enquirer has fired off it's first doom & gloom article about the Hamilton County Fair, which runs from today through Saturday, complete with 29 black & white photos shot during the 50s & 60s. Probably the last time they sent a reporter. Many of the pictures, like above, showing empty stands. The black & white subtly indicating the event is old & out of date. The lack of highlights indicates dark, murky undesirability.

Is it any wonder they didn't cover the local county fair?
Virtually doubling their fair coverage the Fishwrap gives us this wrap up article, Fair Attendance May Be All Time Low, on the Hamilton County Faur. Commenters cite a lack of publicity. The Fishwrap's total lack of coverage in favor of follow the gun reporting could be an issue here, I think.
So the Cincinnati Enquirer has 2 morose articles about the local county fair & about 18 not too good photos vs the Springfield News Sun managing about 20 articles & over 200 photos, some being pretty darn good and the Springfield News Sun still has room for shocking gory headlines.

Why?
It's been clear for some time now that The Cincinnati Enquirer hates Cincinnati but it appears it's hatred has spilled over to include the whole county. Great.

Hamilton County Fair Opens
The Springfield News-Sun (online) posted 23 articles about the Clark County Fair and posted over 200 photos. They are currently plugging the Champaign County Faur.
The Hamilton County Fair begins today & runs through Saturday. Will the Cincinnati Enquirer rise to the occasion?
So far we have an article bemoaning the fair's inadequacies & tells us how much better surrounding counties fairs are. One commenter says he will not set foot in Carthage. We got 9 photos here. MetroMix acknowledges the fairgrounds exist.
Maybe somebody will murder somebody at the fair & the local news media will cover it.
