Schuler's on the March

It's sort of interesting how, in bad financial times, people choke up on big ticket items but tend to spend more on little ticket items like doughnuts.
Trent Schuker, CEO of Schuler's Bakery said, "We can’t make the product fast enough".
Schuler's will be moving it's production from it's Main St location of 64 years to an old Aldi on S Limestone near the Taco Bell that burned down some years ago. The Main St location will still serve as a retail outlet. Hopefully they will expand the sales area as lines frequently spill out onto the street.
"But wait, Quimbob, isn't that S. Limestone location the site of the grocery store that got fire bombed a long time ago ?"
That would be an affirmative, dear reader. The hated A&P, target of the ire of the infamous Ricky Arson, was indeed mysteriously torched back in '79. Although he claims to have been elsewhere when the fire started, anybody who could confirm his whereabouts was stoned. I guess we will never really be sure.

Younglers ? - Schulung's ?

2 of Springfield's favorite food vendors are, of course, Young's Jersey Dairy (technically just north of Yellow Springs) and hometown favorite, Schuler's Bakery. The two businesses have decided to sell one another's products. Schuler's won't have a fountain but will sell ice cream by the pint at their Derr Rd store in northern Springfield & Young's will hawk Schuler's pastries.
Now they just need a rack to sell Mumford's Potato Chips.

Schulers Moving

If you are figuring on making a pastry run to Springfield's Schuler's Bakery, Be Advised - the Mitchell Avenue location is closing & moving to the shopping center on Derr Road @ Villa.
This has some benefits, however, since there is a Kroger in the center & they sell Mumford's Potato Chips, so two stops can be consolidated into one.

When Bloggers Collide

Met up with Geebee and Djinn in Springfield this past weekend. Hit the Westcott House, Groeber's Lounge, O'Connor's Pub, Leonardo's, Schuler's and John's train set and patio where we caught up with John and Giles and got a chance to reacquaint ourselves with some of Mary's beautiful paintings.
Rollicking good time for a bunch of old geezers. It sounds like Portland's Mississippi district and Cincinnati's Northside neighborhood have a lot in common. I don't think I will be converting Djinn to libertarianism any time soon, nor will she be converting me to communism any time soon. My driver and I left the Portland commies stranded in suburbia with nothing but a bottle of orange juice and a New York Times due to Springfield's archaic blue laws. Hopefully they will make it back home and not have to resort to squatting in a foreclosed ranch in Greenlawn Village.
