The city of Cincinnati requires massive amounts of automobile parking for office space in the basin.
The thing is, we have many residential neighborhoods in close proximity to the basin, a bus system that serves those areas pretty well & a bike system with potential to serve those areas well in the future.
Requiring the additional parking in the basin is counter productive, unnecessary, expensive & redundant.
We need more population in the city - the inner suburbs as well as the basin and eliminating these parking requirements is a good way to go about it. Use the car for things other than commuting and use alternative commuting methods for the relatively short commute within the city.
This rezoning makes perfect sense & the policy is the right direction to take to pull our city, the downtown & neighborhoods, together.
If people need trheir shiny little cars 100% of the time, let them deal with it themselves.

The Lost 12

NOWHERE TO PARK
While construction is destroying downtown Cincinnati, the Rail Cult is eliminating parking with big ugly boxes EVERYWHERE !
Does John Deatick even care? He rides a BICYCLE !
He can postulate all he wants about 'finding' 12 more spaces, but what he really is saying is FUCK YOU to the upstanding motorists - the ones who make things happen, the hard workers, the ones who don't use socialist roadways.
Hopefully, Harry Black will straighten this up & remove the incompetents.
Learn more about the havoc as John London tries not to cry here

Time to Move
Is it time for the Freestore to move?
Their mad desire to have acres of parking coupled with growing non metro poverty and the city of Cincinnati trying to increase it's tax base to help pay for welfare, it would seem so. Their strategy of buying nearby buildings, letting them go to hell & then demolishing them for surface parking for their auto owning poverty stricken clientele seems irrational and not in lune with the best interests of the city.
Their latest target is 1606 & 1608 Walnut, purchased 7 years go & left to decay.
The Freestore has applied for a Certificate of Appropriateness to demolish these structures for a surface parking lot. The properties are located within the Over-the-Rhine Historic District.
A pre-hearing conference has been set for 1/21/14 at 9:30 A.M. in Suite 720, Centennial Plaza Two, 805 Central Avenue to provide interested parties with an opportunity to review the project and to ask questions prior to the hearing on 1/27/14.
Maybe it's time to move to a location more befitting their enterprise. Cincinnati Mall?
