How Important is Wage History ?

In a recent meeting of Cincinnati's Political Correctness Committee, the issue of barring free speech and banning employers from asking potential employees about their salary histories arose.
Of course it was couched in sexist terms, but, in my experience, employers didn't jump on the fact I was used to a lower wage - they just denied me employment.
The thing is, I had just been employed in a smaller town where the pay scale was less than in the big sexist Queen City. I had the skill & experience employers wanted, they were just biased against me because of my lower pay history.
SOLUTION - I started lying and then I got hired.
