12 mil Tax Down in Flames

Tremont City residents voted down a proposed 12 mil increase in taxes almost 2-1. Final vote:99 - 51.

Apparently there's been a big cat, a serval, roaming the wilds outside of it's home, Tremont City. It's probably been going through people's trash for the last 2 months. It has been declawed so it's defenses against other critters is impaired. It's about the size of a coyote, tho, so those guys will probably give it a wide berth.
It has recently been spotted near the Upper Valley Mall.

$60 Million for Tremont City ?

Seems a little high but if you are looking to buy a city, Tremont City ain't for sale. The $60M is to clean up 3 million gallons of industrial sludge that could do to Springfield's aquifer what BP did to the Gulf of Mexico.
Springfield's water supply, of course, comes from the sparkly depths of Lake Erie & seeps through the sands & rocks 130 miles to the Champion City.
Of course the Great Lakes could become another Gulf of Mexico, too if the oil drilling ban gets overturned.

No! It's Johnson! Or...

In the first Tremont City council meeting of 2010, councilwoman Paula Johnson presided as mayor. Defeated mayoral candidate Tony Flood was appointed to Johnson's vacant seat. Dunno why he wasn't made mayor. Johnson, a 12 year veteran of the council, is Tremont City's first female mayor. Maybe...
David Shaw, who might be a resident of the city, still believes he is the actual mayor but did not attend the meeting. Maybe it's just his wife who thinks he is mayor.

Tremont City's controversial mayor is accused of beating his daughter. His defense? I don't know, man, I was wasted. Sid Vicious tried it....
meanwhile, mom is vying for the next Tammy Wynette award.

It's SHAW !

Shaw's land is outta town & he has rented an apartment inside tremont City's city limits. A mayor who doesn't want his real estate in city limits really inspires a lot of confidence. Maybe the council should annex his property....

I have heard that Daytonistas prefer the soap opera of Cincinnati politics to their own for the sheer drama. Tremont City can't be far behind.
In a heated mayoral race, David Shaw was elected mayor 86-69. Now the town council has sued to have him removed from office for not being a resident. He is, actually a resident, for now, at least. Earlier in the year he had petitioned with the county to have his home property removed from the city. The county approved but there were some paperwork errors and the petition had to get sent through the Clark County bureaucratic maze again. The result is that Shaw was a resident when he got elected but he won't be in a couple weeks & he knew he wouldn't be eventually. or he has amnesia. Or maybe it's a dream. Or maybe there is an evil twin running around.
Could be one of the shorter lame duck administrations out there.

The candidates cite fiscal responsibility, safety, road improvements & recreation as top priorities. Readers cite issues of police malfeasance and label the current administration as "the worst ever". Some candidates suggest just giving up on the city altogether. Sound familiar ? If Cincinnati could only get some candidates willing to dissolve the hell hole once called Porkopolis.
But this is the politics of Tremont City. Tremont City is a town the gravediggers have to hate. It has a traffic light. It has a fire department. It also, apparently, has all the political squabbling that big hell towns full of poverty, negroes & liberals like Cincinnati has.
