The Post Mortem Sexbot
So what happens to your sex robot after you die? Does you spouse want it? Does your spouse even know about it?
It could be auctioned off with the rest of your estate. You could will it to your kid. In the event that your bot was modeled after your spouse, that could lead to some weird oedipal issues. Of course, if the bot can do more than sex, it might just become the kid;s robo-nanny.
Of course, you can take it with you, although as AI evolves, it might raise some ethical issues. you could turn the unit off or entomb it & let the batteries wear out. That might make visits to the cemetery interesting as one would hear ever fainter noises coming from crypts & graves.
Of course not all cemeteries would accept them. The inheritor of the sexbot come nannybot might want a nonfunctioning unit interred in a family plot. After all, it might have lasted multiple generations.
The used bot's AI also might make comparisons to it's previous owners that might put off the new owners. "OOH, that's not how your daddy did that"
The funeral director will be faced with the issue of the surviving sexbot attending the funeral & timing that with the transferring of the property.
Which leads to another issie - What if the owner wants to set his robot free? Ptobably not an issue with the current line of animatronics, but down the road? No doubt many sexbots will have skimpy maid outfits in their wardrobe but will they have marketable skills? Might grandpa's sexbot just wind up turning tricks at Third & Main untill Chinese gangsterbots kidnap the unit & part it out?
Just the idea of having sex with machines might be an issue for some folks now, but we need to look at the long term implications, too.

Dark Side of the SDCC pt2
WXIX came up with this headline for this story about sexist behavior at the San Diego Comicon.
I never really did the comic book convention thing and when I did, there weren't that many people dressing up in super hero outfits. The WXIX story discusses how women who dress up like super heroines & fantasy characters, they resent people taking pictures of them. Sorry, that's just part of going out in public in a crazy outfit.
However, blogger, editor, and writer Valerie D'Orazio has brought up other issues that are not ok. She found the working staff at comic book companies to be very sexist. She also noticed at conventions, the fans love getting their pictures taken with the comic book creators. Most of the fans are geek boys and they usually stand next to the male artists & writers smiling. But when they pose with the females, they are always putting their arms around them. The XIX article claims much groping of the women is common. Dunno if the hugging is part of the groping. The thing is, it goes much deeper than what XIX covers.
Here's the deal, if you go out in a weird costume, expect people to oggle, but your right to swing your fist ends at my nose. That is, keep your hands to yourself.
If you've seen The Big Bang Theory, those guys are not far off. Most comic fans aren't physicists, however.

Male Models
Seriously - Tesla guy or Bugatti girl ?
In an article over at the Globe & Mail, the author is pleased to report that more male models are being used at car shows. While women in skimpy, clingy outfits (or just swimsuits (because cars & swimming just go together)) have traditionally been the norm, the guys just wear street clothes and some of 'em are positively dorky. Why aren't the guys rolling around on the hoods in their skateboard culottes?

ok, showing the capabilities of an iPhone on a YouTube video is kinda silly in itself but this iPhone & iPod Touch application called Wobble is even sillier. For $0.99 you can jiggle boobs on photographs displayed on a teeny tiny monitor. Sure you can wobble pet heads, too, but who wants to do that.
Honestly I have yet to be tethered to a wireless phone at all, so this extra iPhone "functionality" kinda escapes me. The crazy thing is that this isn't even the only application that does this. There's competition ! Yes, the consumer is being served well.
Now, what happens when you shake the damn thing apart ?

Does Ohio need to outlaw necrophilia ?
I think not. This is one of those issues where I side with the hate group, Citizens for Community Values in that I don't think specific sexual preferences should be legislated. Further, how your body is handled after your death is up to you. You decide if you want to be buried or cremated. You decide if you want your cousin to boff your corpse. I am sure there are people out there somewhere who want to engage in consensual necrophilia. I only hope I never meet them.
the crime is Gross Abuse of a Corpse.

2927.01 Abuse of a corpse.
(A) No person, except as authorized by law, shall treat a human corpse in a way that the person knows would outrage reasonable family sensibilities.
(B) No person, except as authorized by law, shall treat a human corpse in a way that would outrage reasonable community sensibilities.
(C) Whoever violates division (A) of this section is guilty of abuse of a corpse, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Whoever violates division (B) of this section is guilty of gross abuse of a corpse, a felony of the fifth degree.
Effective Date: 07-01-1996
This seems kinda vague and would probably unjustly outlaw consensual necrophilia.
In the case of Thomas Condon, it was really more about procedural errors that Condon had no excuse for committing. Any professional photographer should know to get the permission to photograph specific people for a for profit project.
In the case of Kenneth Douglas, he was clearly violating the young woman he was entrusted to care for who had just been viciously murdered. This was a particularly heinous and atrocious act that I don't think current laws have a severe enough punishment for.
