Kentucky's Ark Park intends to hire hundreds of workers for low paying unskilled labor. Catch is, you must first profess your Christianity. They say they accept any form of Christianity but who knows.
It seems to me that a simple profession should not be adequate - a real teszt should be applied. Vince offers us a proper legal test in Witchfinder General/Conqueror Worm.
This 8/13 episode of Robot Overlordz gets into how Hollywood fucks up comic book characters when they discuss the documentary, The Death of Superman Lives, the Tim Burton / Nicholas Cage production. A big thing is respect and, no Hollywood does not respect the comic book industry. Maybe because it is so New York centric?
But, hey, nobody else respects comics - comics are for kids - movies are for adults. This article in the Daily Mail discusses the remains of a woman buried with weaponry who archaeologists dubbed Red Sonja. The Mail cites actress Bridget Nielsen who played her in a horrible movie but gave no credit to author Robert E Howard nor comic book creators Roy Thomas & Barry Windsor-Smith.
oh well, people seem to like these crappy comic book movies, so...
Rolling Stone reports Martin Scorsese is 'attached' to directing a movie about The Ramones.
So who should play the boys? Off the top of my noggin:
Brad Pitt as Johnny
Jon Hamm as Joey
Will Smith as Dee Dee
What are your ideas? (don't overload the server, now)
Ok, a Godzilla themed theater is OK but a Godzilla themed hotel? YOW.
Unfortunately, the hotel doesn't seem to go far enough. Burnt & squahed bodies working as furniture & appliances would be a good touch. Cracked & shattered walls would be cool. An atomic grill in the lounge would be a nice touch. The sounds of screams, crashes & explosions played on the PA? oh HELL Yeah. Heck, you could even have scaly bed spreads in the rooms.
Wonder if they considered tiny ladies for the concierge?
oh well, one more reason to go to Japan
A Vancouverite made a movie in Russia about Betty Bathory in Transylvania but was actually in Hungary but now Slovakia. Dunno if it will get an American release with English dubs or subtitles.
Robert Crumb's bid for solidarity with Charlie Hebdo shows an extremely detailed illustration of Mohammed's butt. Crumb cautions that it is not the butt of a prophet but the butt of a film maker, however.
FWIW, Robert Rodriguez has taken on the task of creating a live action movie (that will undoubtedly use massive CG) of Fire & Ice, a collaboration of Frank Frazetta & Ralph Bakshi in 1983. Sony has purchased the film, so who knows WHAT will ranspire....

This short Dutch movie is kinda cool. Since it never shows the woman talking it can be overdubbed in any language. Heck, you could just bag the script & make it a zombie movie. Well, if you can read what's written on the bodies, maybe not...
Anyway, as people use their religion to square any deviant, antisocial thing they want to do you could apply almost any religion to this piece, too.
But most people wouldn't slaughter the director to prove how wonderful their religion was.
This'd be fun, but, of course, the dark forces of American lawyers would be sure to fuck it up like they fucked up Dan Turpin's funeral.
Anyway, why not bring in Doctor Solar & Magnus Robot Fighter just to really jazz things up?
The 1936 movie, Things to Come starts out on Christmas Day 1940 in 'Everytown'. War promptly follows, lasts for years, plunges the planet into the stone age til a group of engineers builds a new technocracy that saves the day - or does it.
Theoretically the Brits canned it because they didn't want any pesky anti-war sentiment when Germany & Italy were rattling their sabers.
Great apocalyptic holiday fare!
The December 22, 1958 issue of Life magazine featured a collection of images of Marilyn Monroe posing as older film stars including Lillian Russell, Clara Bow, Marlene Dietrich, Jean Harlow, and Cincinnati's own Theda Bara. It was titled Fabled Enchantresses.
More cute, cuddly robots in entertainment…
Could it be that the CGI is actually the product of the machine army and not, as we are prone to believe, the product of talented human animators? Have they already taken over and are now just softening us up? Divide us? Take all our money? Take all our women?
Perhaps the shape shifting alien lizard men will be our saviors….
Cunning little minx of a robot divides man against man in the robots' mad conquest of humanity in the movie, Ex Machina.
Interestingly, I found this trailer after Glenn Beck sent me to this clip from the movie Interstellar.
So, do we want the dang machines or not?
Somebody needs to make a Magnus - Robot Fighter movie.
Locally produced in Cincinnati (& Voodoolicious Northside), the short film "Soul Carnival" is set to be released in August 2014. Which it is…
I guess you need to keep a watch on Vault51 Productions.
Like a bit of Portlandia with you Tokyo gore? This movie about Japanese kids & trends is a hoot. A Frankenstein style high school girl fights the "new girl", a vampire, over the affections of a seriously WTF'd teen age boy. Great music typically cheesy fights & gore.
Everybody knows it. Everybody is thinking it. But nobody will say it.
OK, I will. Hollywood should put Aztec Ace on the big screen. A guy from the 23rd century with a penchant for jazz & Coca Cola, who lives in an ancient Aztec pyramid who goes globe trotting & time traveling with his girlfriend Bridget & the floating, disembodied head of Sigmund Freud in an effort to save the space time continuum couldn't not be a success.
But, Quimbob, doesn't Hollywood fuck up everything it touches?
Well, yeah….
oh well...
One of the things that really struck me about this book was Cormac McCarthy's description of sound. As people routinely butcher McCarthy's books in movies, I've learned not to expect much.
In the opening scene in the book, the protagonist walks up to a group of people in n open field at a farm auction & protests their being there as he squats in an old shack on the property. A guy walks up & clobbers him in the back of the head with a shovel. The scene was very airy & the sound of the shovel against the head was described in great detail. In the brief clip of the scene in this trailer it seems very claustrophobic & there's virtually no sound of the impact.
He seems a little 'under dressed' in the scene where he's shooting at the farmer in the field, too.
So far, it doesn't look good. The protagonist doesn't look anything like what I saw reading the book. He seemed more like a mish mash of Ernest T Bass & Charles Manson.
oh well...
This movie about a guy falling in love with the home secretary computer system thinagamabob has got Glenn Beck in a tizzy. I guess it's just one more of Glenn's harbingers of the apocalypse when a geek falls in love with an annoying voice. Probably would have been better made in Bollywood.
Being a fan of the Star Trek TV shows, I must point out that while I had nominal nominal crush on Nurse Chapel, I never had a crush on the computer voice. Now, Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda was a different story altogether.
A much better robot love story would probably be Donna Matrix, a story about a love droid whose programming gets hacked with some military programming to suit the needs of a pathetic masochist but results in a lethal dominatrix / terminator kinda robot that terrorizes the city & requires the military to put down. This would make a great movie in the hands of Robert Rodriguez.
