Jill Stein Ad

A Jill Stein Ad. Not terribly informative. The audio from the rally isn't very polished technically. Overall pretty positive, but nothing that's going to break her through.

C'mon, Ted

This is a really bad ad. It's juvenile & amateurish. There's also a couple versions with one saying he abandons the constitution & another saying he works for the wealthy. Dunno why, variety is the spice of life?

Thing is, the people who believed the Planned Parenthood videos will probably believe this is real undercover video.....

Notice of Delinquency

Blogging isn't Cool is no stranger to late bill notices what with our generous intern program but this one was perplexing coming from the "Office of Records" & "Ohio Area Assessment"...
WTF?
"Immediate Response Requested", so I "immediately" opened it up.
LOL, it was no strange bill inside, tho. It was those merry pranksters at the GOP begging me for money.
What scamps. With such a sense of humor they are sure to broaden their base & raise all sorts of cash.
Update: Rachel Maddow goes off on the mailer
But, of course you heard it here first, right?
Blogging isn't cool!

Target - Too Many Dimensions

I'm not sure what the idea is behind the 3D animation in this season's Target Xmas ads is but, OK.
I generally like Target ads with the flat white & red graphics. They are usually mixed with live actors & that weird dog. The problem with the 3D animated ads is that even the logo has now gone 3D
I'm not so sure I like this. If they keep it up, I might have to stop shopping at Tarfet.
oh wait, I already don't...

War on Xmas

Best Buy's "Win Xmas" by buying the coolest gizmos is seriously callous - and I don't really celebrate Xmas....

Cutting the Cable

As folks move away from the one size fits all cable TV model, the networks are delivering their content through their websites. That's great. They have different ways of doing it. Some make you wait a week to view online. Some let you view immediately but take down older shows. Some sites work OK with one browser but not with another. Fine, it's weird but I get it - we're still figuring it out. There's still advertising but, that's ok, the sponsors are the ones paying the bills.
BUT
While most networks stream their content ok - Fox is about the worst, some of the advertisers are streaming from Mac IIs through a modem.
Witness the snippet of an ad that takes about 5 minutes to play - if it doesn't crash your browser of completely lose the connection. Watching a 1 hour show (that's less than an hour) can take up to an hour & forty five minutes with an ad like this playing at every commercial break. Ironically, it's the tech companies that are the worst. The candy companies ads are fine.
Fox gives you the option of watching one ad or just watch with regular ads throughout the show. Except that doesn't work - you still get the ads...
The ads on Fox & The CW (you can tell what we watch in the BiC breakroom) are the worst.
Thing is, this ruins the user experience and I'm guessing most people don't realize it's different companies streaming ads & shows. Unless they are doing this on purpose for the cable companies, they really need to set some standards on their advertisers.

Infrastructure

This skit/routine goes on kind of long but it brings up the idea of selling infrastructure maintenance with, if not horror, ham fisted drama.
Cloverfield might have approaced the subject but that was kinda more along the lines of "leave it alone, man, who the fuck knows what's down there".
And then there's C.H.U.D. ...
Maybe this is a subject that needs to be sold with sex. Maybe with hot robot chicks in wet tank tops crawling around in the sewere. Might work.

Horror Sells

ok, I'm going to put this ad under the heading of horror. Eating disorders have got to be one of the most insidious things in the world. You can always just pass the fast food joints but I can only imagine what it's like going to the grocery.
That being said, I wouldn't endorse Weight Watchers - although some of their frozen entrees are kinda tasty.

I'm Blaming the Messenger

Sometimes it's hard to be a booster. Giving all your love to just one hood. You'll have bad times and it will have good times,
Coming up with videos you can't understand...
OK, I have posted some crappy videos promoting Helltown but this one really stinks. It's 2:18 long. Any broadcaster, even the Fountain Square Not-So-Jumbotron wants even times, :15, :30, 1:00....
It lists 4 businesses & no organizations, no churches. The testimonies are vague, some of the grammar is bad and nobody is actually identified. The fade in on the text looks like some kind of retinopathy blind spot.
And what is up with the weird initial font?
It's Northside, not North Side. That's ,like, Sharonville or something.
Sure it's just north of UC but it has easy highway access & easy downtown access. It has great bus connectivity as well as bicycle connectivity.
The over repetition at the end blows & the music just cutting off is ridiculous. It could have faded out or the video could have been lengthened or shortened to fit the music.
I shouldn't be a jerk but it's kinda like in Mad Men when the guy wants to sell Jaguar's like used Fords on the radio, ya know?
oh, well, guess I'm just a prudish snob.

Horror Sells

OK, dunno if this is horror or just a really deranged lawyer cracking up on TV. It's odd advrtising and his name on his logo is weird, too. Why focus on the middle letter of the name? quiMbob?
whatever...

Selling Luxury Caskets

probably NSFW

I'm guessing that the funeral industry in Poland is heavily dominated by men. Of course Poland also boasts the highest number of exorcists per capita in the world. 2015 marks Lindner's 5th year of glamour / nudie calendars for their 'luxury' caskets. I don't know if luxury means multiple cup holders, USB connections or what.
So, do the exorcists have calendars?

Dorothy

When I heard of this smartphone app, Dorothy, that allows the user to activate programs with a click of the heels, this scene from the classic, The 10th Victim, was the first thing to pop into my fevered mind…

Ad Placement Fail

An oldie but goodie - the chills that go down your spine when the ad starts are just awesome.
