The organizers of Northside's 4th of JUly festivities are running into higher than normal fees & such. A double whammy thanks to John Cranley & John Kasich.
So, this year they have set up a GofundMe account to raise some cash.
When posted on facebook, cincinnati councilman, Chris Seelbach posted that, instead of placing hurdles, the city should be helping residents put on events.
I'd agree.
But on the GofundMe site there is no contribution listed for Mr Seelbach. There is a contribution from Vice Mayor David Mann.....

Every so often the stars align and, in one linear mile, everything collides for a dayfull of fun.
October 10th brings us the biennial Northside Porch Tour!. Meet at Jergens Park @ Hamilton & Bruce Avenues from 6 - 9. There will be food, music, a gazillion luminaries marking the path. You can walk it, bike it or shell out some cash to take a horse drawn carriage complete with a docent to explain what the heck you're looking at. Home owners along the route will be hanging out front so you can meet some of the fine Northside folks.
Saturday, October 10th is, of course also Northside Second Saturday. Shop, eat, drink, dance, sing, jump up & down... The possibilities are endless and, who knows? You might fall in love.

This Second Saturday will introduce several ne businesses to the Northside Business district, notably, Tillie's Lounge, Hero Gym, Northside Sound Factory, and Tickle Pickle Organic Burger Bar.
Boswell's is firing up the grill. Barrio Tequileria is discounting Wine. The Listing Loon is doing wine tastings. Northside Hardware is having a sidewalk sale. NVISION is discounting clothing 20%. ParProjects is having a grill out dance party. Spun Bicycle is having a 10% sale on accessories.
Add to that the annual Haight-Addingham-Donaldson block party and the OVI Civil War Camp at Spring Grove Cemetery and there's really nowhere else to be this Saturday.

Coming up with videos you can't understand...
OK, I have posted some crappy videos promoting Helltown but this one really stinks. It's 2:18 long. Any broadcaster, even the Fountain Square Not-So-Jumbotron wants even times, :15, :30, 1:00....
It lists 4 businesses & no organizations, no churches. The testimonies are vague, some of the grammar is bad and nobody is actually identified. The fade in on the text looks like some kind of retinopathy blind spot.
And what is up with the weird initial font?
It's Northside, not North Side. That's ,like, Sharonville or something.
Sure it's just north of UC but it has easy highway access & easy downtown access. It has great bus connectivity as well as bicycle connectivity.
The over repetition at the end blows & the music just cutting off is ridiculous. It could have faded out or the video could have been lengthened or shortened to fit the music.
I shouldn't be a jerk but it's kinda like in Mad Men when the guy wants to sell Jaguar's like used Fords on the radio, ya know?
oh, well, guess I'm just a prudish snob.
