ELVIS !

After years in Las Vegas & Hollywood, Elvis Presley made a 'comeback' TV special in 1968 where he shed the Hollywood persona & got back to his R&R roots with the band that made him famous but Hollywood rejected.
As Quimette said, "damn, that guy was sexy"
and he could rock!

The New Stalins

When Bill Burroughs said there would be no more Stalins, I don't think he had social media & the intertubes in mind. Granted the people using the relatively new communication portals are indeed finding themselves intheir positions quite by accident but nowadays people are finding they can silence or 'disappear' a person with the tap of a button. It's almost like something out of a 1960s British science fiction movie.
People try having forummers deleted due to their profile pictures. If admins won't do it the offended appeal to their corporate gods. People are and their posts picked off by admins who make unilateral decisions in the blink of an eye without consulting their co-administrators.
When forum programmers built in safety devices to promote 'civil discussion', they created a whole new class of censors who could, anonymously, act as cyber terrorists against whomever they disagreed with.
Just in recent weeks I have seen so many immature, knee jerk attacks here and there by administrators, against administrators and between forummers - it's making my head spin.

The Shaver Mysteries

Amazing Stories, Ray Palmer, Richard Shaver, Harlan Ellison, William Bullwer-Lyton, Helena Blavatsky, racial memory, ancient aliens, conspiracy, torture, depraved alien lust, slavery…
A radio interview from 1956 discussing The Shaver Mysteries, the Deros, Teros, their lives underneath the Earth's crust, their use of rays to effect humans & their infiltration of human society. The pulp stories by an insane writer who insisted they were real and supported in their authenticity by his editor & publisher were still suspected of maybe being real 10 years after their publication.
And for a local Cincinnati connection to the hollow earth theory, Symzonia

Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein Girl

Like a bit of Portlandia with you Tokyo gore? This movie about Japanese kids & trends is a hoot. A Frankenstein style high school girl fights the "new girl", a vampire, over the affections of a seriously WTF'd teen age boy. Great music typically cheesy fights & gore.

My Buzzfed Personality Crisis

What I have learned about myself from Buzzfeed…
During medieval times I would live in the Astoria neighborhood of New York City transported to the state of New Mexico. If I was president, I'd be Woodrow Wilson. If I were an apostle, I'd be St Phillip. OTOH if I were on the Firefly crew, i'd be Cap'n Tightpants. If I happened to become a comic book villain, I'd be Mr Freeze but as an animated dog, I'd be Mr Peabody. My literary soulmate would be Henry Thoreau.
uh.. yeah
Not a fan of Woody, never heard of Astoria, HATE New Mexico, never read Thoreau, Mr Freeze is kinda dumb, I'm cool with Mr Peabody & medieval times but I alway thought of myself as more of a Wash. St Phillip? beats me…
What's sad is that somebody is probably taking this nonsense to the bank.
Mr Freeze in New Mexico?

What Would You Be Caught Dead In ?

not this!
This fashion show of funeral gowns rejected by Star Trek was probably a little different for the models who are probably a little more used to runway shows. Dunno why they are lying on mirrors on the floor but what the heck, you usually don't look up at people on runways, either.
So what would you want to be buried in? Your usual attire? Something more formal? A Batman costume?
You can go biodegradable
The Siberian Ice Maiden wore a 3 foot high hat that necessitated an 8 foot coffin.

Some more crap to ponder

Hey Hollywood !

Everybody knows it. Everybody is thinking it. But nobody will say it.
OK, I will. Hollywood should put Aztec Ace on the big screen. A guy from the 23rd century with a penchant for jazz & Coca Cola, who lives in an ancient Aztec pyramid who goes globe trotting & time traveling with his girlfriend Bridget & the floating, disembodied head of Sigmund Freud in an effort to save the space time continuum couldn't not be a success.
But, Quimbob, doesn't Hollywood fuck up everything it touches?
Well, yeah….
oh well...

Wrecking Ball

I don't know if Ron Jeremy's cover of wrecking ball constitutes horror any more than Miley Cyrus' ever present tongue, but...

Who's the Dead Chick ?

While not exactly horror, the women's blog at The Guardian has brought up the use of the corpse in advertising.
Miley Cyrus on a beach with a corpse is a lot less offensive than swinging around naked on a wrecking ball with her tongue hanging out of her head, but no less weird.
Apparently, it's mainly a fashion thing & I am completely ignorant of that world.
Dunno if this is a trend that will move to automobiles, candy bars, etc.
Maybe I will have to get a subscription to Vogue…..

Themes Gone Wild

Since the experience is more important than the food and since, as we all know, Horror Sells, I'm thinking about a resaurant with a host dressed like Dracula, waitresses dressed like Dracula's brides, bussers dressed as zombies, bartenders dressed like mad scientists and a kitchen staff dressed in Texas Chainsaw Massacre gear. Probably do up the bar & kitchen equipment in weird retro spaceship robot crap and if anybody has a birthday, you could send somebody out running through the dining room with a leatherface mask & running chainsaw.
Maybe get H.R. Geiger to design the tables & chairs, some animatronic steampunk band for music…..
Insurance might be an issue but, so what? It would be a guaranteed success!
Menu? Who cares?

It Wasn't Obamageddon?

The Fishwarp reports the 10 most discussed topics on American FaceBook were;
  • 1 Super Bowl
  • 2 Government shutdown
  • 3 Boston Marathon
  • 4 Syria Crisis
  • 5 Harlem Shake
  • 6 Pope Francis
  • 7 George Zimmerman
  • 8 Royal Baby
  • 9 Nelson Mandela
  • 10 Presidential Inauguration
On my feed #1 would have to be some form of Obama, Obamacare, Impeach Obama, Obama Traitor, The End of The World, The Sky is Falling or something. Maybe I just have the wrong friends...

Can't embed this due to MTV's mad anal video policies but I would call this performance Horror Pop. But then plushies totally creep me out, so…

X-Ray Spex

If X-Ray Spex worked as advertised AND if you hung out with a bunch of models high on cocaine and LSD, this might be the result.
But, really, I always just wanted to see everybody walking around like skeletons, anyway…

Happy Friday !

Graham Bond Holy Magick

Bond, a Brit, got into mysticism around 1970 and, having deep roots in American music, made a couple albums that married R&B, gospel, Soul, Psychedelia & Golden Dawn mysticism emphasizing Kaballah into a weird & wonderful mess.
No clue where the video came from.
