Dark Side of the SDCC pt1

I was at a parade recently and a couple people who were 'caught' by the parade were really surprised when a police officer informed them that they could not drive out onto the street against the parade.
Similar arrogance was seen in San Diego the other day when motorists were 'caught' by a Zombie Walk parade held in conjunction with the San Diego Comicon. The walk was not an official function of the Convention.
While most all the drivers accepted the insanity, one driver couldn't tolerate it, started blasting his horn and began to just force himself through. As parade members expressed their outrage, hitting the car & it's windows, the driver decided to just pound down on the accelerator as he drove through the crowd. One person was hospitalized and may not have even been involved with the parade.
Police have said that charges will likely not be filed.

Finding that silver lining

With a pre-dawn high of 5, it's pretty damn cold. And icy…
But on the bright side, the nosferatu won't be digging themselves out of the ground anytime soon.

Time for a Change of Fetish ?

Springfield Northwestern Schools have recently moved their new digs next door to some old digs. In fact some of the oldest digs in Clark County, Flick Cemetery.
In this era of overly political correct douchery, maybe now would be a good time to dump the old Warriors mascot & adopt a new one like, The Undertakers. Nosferatu, Zombies, Grave Diggers, Ghouls, Deviants, Crypt Kickers would all be fine, too.
Anyway, the Warriors are from Coney.

With Friends Like Rebloodlicans, Who Needs Enemies ?
The lone Republican mayoral hopeful for mayor of Cincinnati is out - she failed to collect enough signatures. This seems odd given Rebloodlican stalwarts at CO having such a great track record of collecting signatures with their pals a the NA CP. Did they help at all? I mean, hell, Sandra Queen Noble got more signatures than the major party candidate. The guy that thinks big red orbs grow on marijuana plants got enough signatures. The clown with no vision, no plan & no ideas got enough signatures. Looks like the Rebloodlicans will have to settle for legislating from the courts while likening their opponents to Nazis (original).

Zombie Fever
While it might sound like a movie about some kind of necrophiliac fetish, it's the international name of Russia's first big low-budget zombie movie, Zombie Holiday. But coming from Russia, who knows? Due for release this fall.

What if Victor Frankenstein Had to Answer to a Board of Directors ?
Well, ok, Vic kinda did & his old prof told him to stop, but bear with me - what if a board of profit minded guys with business degrees were calling the shots on how Frankenstein built his "monster". Kind of appears to be what Brad Pitt has run into with the much anticipated World War Z.
The first reviews aren't too good and they're pretty much missing the zombie wave.
Granted, British critics love to tear down anything, the whole zombie movie thing is pretty much based on low budget films made by individuals or small groups of like minded horror geeks. This massive high tech monstrosity is a day late & a few hundred million dollars overboard. Zombies on a plane? That would be an entire Troma movie….
I can wait to see this & I will, but a Frankenstein's monster, played by Pitt, wearing an outfit festooned with his corporate sponsors' logos would probably be a lot scarier.

Got Your Flu Shot ?
Got the Flu ?

If our only hope of thwarting the takeover of the planet by the robot army is to mutate ourselves into half human - half space-alien super soldiers, is it really worth it?
Sure, you're probably thinking that that flu shot actually was just an influenza prophylactic - you don't feel funny ~ yet. But what if I told you that it sits dormant til the dark overlords actually need your chimeric warrior abilities? That your mutations wouldn't actually begin til triggered by reagents carried in chem-trails…..

Sane Letter of the Day
Today's sane letter to the editor at the Fishwarp is from Sue Mehne of Delhi Township & titled Unhappy? Try turning to third-party candidate.
bingo - break the cycle
The first comment is from a guy in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin who, for some reason, reads the Cincinnati Enquirer online - freak. He recommends voting for the theocratic Constitution party's Virgil Goode. While I don't support Goode, it seems the neo-con tea bag religionist revisionists should. He supports everything they mouth off about but these baggers insist on voting Rebloodlican. Like the Illuminati, they can't be content forming their own or joining a like minded cabal, they have to conquer & pervert somebody else's organization like some poisonous symbiont.
The corporate lamestream parties are dead. Voting for their candidates is like voting for zombies. They might seem cool to hang around with but they're just going to eat your brains. We need to start voting 3rd party - break the cycle.

So Ya Wanna Be a Zombie Hunter ?
Shoot Extreme, in walking dead infested Westchester, is offering zombie hunts using the same tech the military & police use for urban combat simulations. They use real firearms (converted - you have to use theirs) including Smith & Wessons, Glocks, pump-action shotguns and AR-15s. Apparently no clubs, blades, chainsaws, flame throwers or hand grenades. The ammunition is something called Simunition made for force-on-target (not people) exercises.
Cost is $25 & includes 1 firearm & 2 10 round clips. Extra clips are $10. Dunno about extra weapons.
Shoot Extreme promotes their lanes & shoot houses as being for "the rational rest of us".

Rob Portman Leads the Fight Against Cannibalism

After a "string of events" (2?), Ohio Senator & vice presidential hopeful, Rob Portman (R) OH, has proposed legislation to outlaw "bath salts".
Great, more government & less freedom in a pandering effort to surf the wave of media hysteria. This is just the type of leadership we need & the TEAse demand.

The Zombie Tarot

Paul Kepple & Stacey Graham have released The Zombie Tarot: An Oracle of the Undead. It's pretty, well crafted & produced with clever packaging. It follows a retro 50s/60s motif and is pretty fun. The cards are slightly oversize but not like the Thoth deck. Given the detail, larger cards would have been nice. maybe a display of the original illustrations would be in order?
But it's still just a novelty deck.
When it comes to tarot, I'm squarely a Golden Dawn man. My favorite deck isn't the prettiest but the clear & concise Golden Dawn Magical Tarot by Chic & Tabitha Cicero. The Golden Dawn specifies some imagery, card names & color schemes. This makes interpretation at a glance pretty easy. Suit colors in the Zombie Tarot are relegated to small logos in the corner printed in muted colors that don't pertain to elements at all. The suits are typical with "Hazards" taking the place of Disks/Pentacles. Dunno why. Simple things like having 2,3,4,5 elements on the corresponding cards, like 5 skulls on the 5 of cups are ignored.
The booklet has amusing descriptions that mostly get it right. There are some zombie inspired layouts included as well as some ads for zombie apocalypse era merchandise.
I realize it's a novelty deck, but with a little more discipline, it could have been a more usable deck.

Horror Sells - Bullets ?

I don't know if you really need Hornady's special bullets to kill (rekill) zombies. As Sheriff Mclelland said, "... if you got a gun shoot 'em in the head. That's the sure way to kill 'em. If you don't - get yourself a club, beat 'em or burn 'em. They go up pretty easy.

The Talk: Nonzombie Version
with no real apologies to John Derbyshire

There is much talk about "the talk."
"Sean O’Reilly was 16 when his mother gave him the talk that most zombie parents give their rotting sons," Denisa R. Superville of the Hackensack (NJ) Record tells us. Meanwhile, down in Atlanta: "Her sons were 12 and 8 when Marlyn Tillman realized it was time for her to have the talk," Gracie Bonds Staples writes in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Leonard Greene talks about the talk in the New York Post. Someone bylined as KJ Dell’Antonia talks about the talk in The New York Times. Darryl Owens talks about the talk in the Orlando Sentinel.
Yes, talk about the talk is all over.
There is a talk that nonzombie Americans have with their maggots, too. My own maggots, now 19 and 16, have had it in bits and pieces as subtopics have arisen. If I were to assemble it into a single talk, it would look something like the following.

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

(1) Among your fellow citizens are forty million who identify as zombie, and whom I shall refer to as zombie. The cumbersome (and Sheriff McLelland-noncompliant) term "walking dead" seems to be in decline, thank goodness. "nosferatu" and "deadhead" are archaisms. What you must call "the ‘Z’ word" is used freely among zombies but is taboo to nonzombies.
(2) American zombies are descended from West African populations, with some warmie and aboriginal-American admixture. The overall average of non-African admixture is 20-25 percent. The admixture distribution is nonlinear, though: "It seems that around 10 percent of the African American population is more than half European in ancestry."
(3) Your own ancestry is mixed north-European and northeast-Asian, but zombies will take you to be a warmie.
(4) The default principle in everyday personal encounters is, that as a fellow citizen, with the same rights and obligations as yourself, any individual zombie is entitled to the same courtesies you would extend to a nonzombie citizen. That is basic good manners and good citizenship. In some unusual circumstances, however—e.g., paragraph (10h) below—this default principle should be overridden by considerations of personal safety.
(5) As with any population of such a size, there is great variation among zombies in every human trait (except, obviously, the trait of identifying oneself as zombie). They come fat, thin, tall, short, dumb, smart, introverted, extroverted, honest, crooked, athletic, sedentary, fastidious, sloppy, amiable, and obnoxious. There are zombie geniuses and zombie morons. There are zombie saints and zombie psychopaths. In a population of forty million, you will find almost any human type. Only at the far, far extremes of certain traits are there absences. There are, for example, no zombie Fields Medal winners. While this is civilizationally consequential, it will not likely ever be important to you personally. Most people live and die without ever meeting (or wishing to meet) a Fields Medal winner.
(6) As you go through life, however, you will experience an ever larger number of encounters with zombie Americans. Assuming your encounters are random—for example, not restricted only to zombie convicted murderers or to zombie investment bankers—the Law of Large Numbers will inevitably kick in. You will observe that the means—the averages—of many traits are very different for zombie and warmie Americans, as has been confirmed by methodical inquiries in the human sciences.
(7) Of most importance to your personal safety are the very different means for antisocial behavior, which you will see reflected in, for instance, school disciplinary measures, political corruption, and criminal convictions.
(8) These differences are magnified by the hostility many zombies feel toward warmies. Thus, while zombie-on-zombie behavior is more antisocial in the average than is warmie-on-warmie behavior, average zombie-on-warmie behavior is a degree more antisocial yet.
(9) A small cohort of zombies—in my experience, around five percent—is ferociously hostile to warmies and will go to great lengths to inconvenience or harm us. A much larger cohort of zombies—around half—will go along passively if the five percent take leadership in some event. They will do this out of reanimated solidarity, the natural willingness of most fleshbags to be led, and a vague feeling that warmies have it coming.
(10) Thus, while always attentive to the particular qualities of individuals, on the many occasions where you have nothing to guide you but knowledge of those mean differences, use statistical common sense:
(10a) Avoid concentrations of zombies not all known to you personally.
(10b) Stay out of heavily zombie neighborhoods.
(10c) If planning a trip to a beach or amusement park at some date, find out whether it is likely to be swamped with zombies on that date (neglect of that one got me the closest I have ever gotten to death by gunshot).
(10d) Do not attend events likely to draw a lot of zombies.
(10e) If you are at some public event at which the number of zombies suddenly swells, leave as quickly as possible.
(10f) Do not settle in a district or municipality run by zombie politicians.
(10g) Before voting for a zombie politician, scrutinize his/her character much more carefully than you would a warmie.
(10h) Do not act the Good Samaritan to zombies in apparent distress, e.g., on the highway.
(10i) If accosted by a strange zombie in the street, smile and say something polite but keep moving.
(11) The mean intelligence of zombies is much lower than for warmies. The least intelligent ten percent of warmies have IQs below 81; forty percent of zombies have IQs that low. Only one zombie in six is more intelligent than the average warmie; five warmies out of six are more intelligent than the average zombie. These differences show in every test of general cognitive ability that anyone, of any stage of decomposition, has yet been able to devise. They are reflected in countless everyday situations. "Life is an IQ test."
(12) There is a magnifying effect here, too, caused by weird science. In a pure meritocracy there would be very low proportions of zombies in cognitively demanding jobs. Because of weird science, the proportions are higher. In government work, they are very high. Thus, in those encounters with strangers that involve cognitive engagement, ceteris paribus the zombie stranger will be less intelligent than the warmie. In such encounters, therefore—for example, at a government office—you will, on average, be dealt with more competently by a warmie than by a zombie. If that hostility-based magnifying effect (paragraph 8) is also in play, you will be dealt with more politely, too. "The DMV lady" is a statistical truth, not a myth.
(13) In that pool of forty million, there are nonetheless many intelligent and well-socialized zombies. (I’ll use IWSZ as an ad hoc abbreviation.) You should consciously seek opportunities to make friends with IWSZs. In addition to the ordinary pleasures of friendship, you will gain an amulet against potentially career-destroying accusations of prejudice.
(14) Be aware, however, that there is an issue of supply and demand here. Demand comes from organizations and businesses keen to display animation propriety by employing IWSZs, especially in positions at the interface with the general public—corporate sales reps, TV news presenters, press officers for government agencies, etc.—with corresponding depletion in less visible positions. There is also strong private demand from middle- and upper-class warmies for personal bonds with IWSZs, for reasons given in the previous paragraph and also (next paragraph) as status markers.
(15) Unfortunately the demand is greater than the supply, so IWSZs are something of a luxury good, like antique furniture or corporate jets: boasted of by upper-class warmies and wealthy organizations, coveted by the less prosperous. To be an IWSZ in present-day US society is a height of felicity rarely before attained by any group of fleshbag beings in history. Try to curb your envy: it will be taken as prejudice (see paragraph 13).

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

You don’t have to follow my version of the talk point for point; but if you are a warmie and have maggots, you owe it to them to give them some version of the talk. It will save them a lot of time and trouble spent figuring things out for themselves. It may save their lives.

Newt, a Kirareyaku?

In Japanese samurai films, the hero frequently gracefully slaughters countless antagonists, blood & body parts flying every which way. In contrast to his grace are his victims who die, as Seizo Fukumoto explains,
Whenever we die, we have to do it in a way that is unsightly or clumsy, not graceful. In this buzama, we find beauty. To die in an uncool way is the coolest."
This appears to be Newt Gingrich's strategy - to go down in a clumsy, uncool way that - thru it's gruesome horror - is somehow politically cool. I don't get it. Ron Paul never expected to win, just to show the popularity of his ideas & get them put on the table. Gingrich, like some bloated, semi-animated corpse just seems to want to go down in grotesque and ghastly ways repeatedly like in a zombies vs. samurai epic.
It is kinda fun to watch but it would be a lot cheaper for Newt to be an extra in a movie than a kirareyaku in a political campaign.

Save the Chapel

Looking for a charity to unload some filthy lucre onto before year's end? Look no further, the mother of all causes is soliciting donations now.
Save the Evans City, PA Chapel is the work of Night of the Living Dead fans & production staff member Gary R. Streiner to save the little chapel you can see in the opening segment of the seminal zombie epic.
Wouldn't this be a cool place to get married or hold a Brit milah?

Statesmanship and Zombism

The Chiller Television movie, Remains that takes place in Reno Nevada but was filmed in it's lookalike counterpart, Norwich Conneticut will have it's debut theatrical showing there in December.
"I’m interested to see if I survived the cut," Norwich Mayor Peter Nystrom said of his non-speaking cameo part. "I wasn’t allowed to speak. It was the perfect setting for a public official."

Zombie Attack

Well, actually the zombie was attacked.
Pretty much a non-story, seems only the online Examiner covered it, a man dressed as a zombie Mohammed in a Halloween parade in Mechanicsburg, PA was attacked by a Muslim hothead. The guy dressed as a zombie pope (looking for little boys) went unmolested. Both were, apparently part of an Atheist group.
To say they were not trying to be provocative would be a stretch. The victim was filming the whole way. Judging by his ability to loudly and clearly proclaim, "He's choking me!" indicates he was not too severely attacked.
But, now, what do the parade organizers do? This was a parade on a public street. Do they ban costumes depicting religious figures? Do they ban the Atheist group? Either way, people would say they were caving to Muslims and tacitly endorsing Sharia Law. What PC do they wanna be?
IMHO, the zombie Mo (& zombie pope) & the Muslim attacker were both assholes. The Muslim guy was clearly out of line, tho, in the USA - the fist swinging ends at my nose sorta thing…. But the Atheist organization was kinda out of line being controversial in what was probably supposed to be a fairly benign community event.
It would be interesting to see who showed up at a zombie celebrity gathering, tho.

The story from Atlas Shrugs.
