Horror Sells

ok, I'm going to put this ad under the heading of horror. Eating disorders have got to be one of the most insidious things in the world. You can always just pass the fast food joints but I can only imagine what it's like going to the grocery.
That being said, I wouldn't endorse Weight Watchers - although some of their frozen entrees are kinda tasty.

Don't Give Fox Another Chance

It appears Fox TV wants the rights to The X-Men.
Comic book super heroes are science fiction. Science fiction requires $$$ to produce. It takes time to develop the characters & universe. It would take less if you just used what was already developed but Hollywood knows better. But Fox wants instant results and has killed science fiction shows too many times.
Let somebody else develop comic book TV. Fox isn't mature enough & will just ruin franchises for other companies to produce. The X-Files came along when Fox had nothing. It would never have lasted a season nowadays.
Fox, step away from the art boards...

The Indignation

While Blogging Isn't Cool will no doubt be snubbed by the pretenders at City Bleat (again), their petty jealousies only make me laugh.
Now, Cincy Magazine has snubbed Quimbob in their 2015 Power 100. 'The Tristate's most influential CEO's, politicians and civic leaders', indeed. Most of those guys tremble at the mention of my name. They bow before me in my top secret hidden lair floating invisibly over the Queen City ass they seek my advice and acceptance.
These silly muckraking publications know no honor nor do they show even basic respect.
Their time will come...

Hollow Word Theory

Cincinnati mayor John Cranley quotes ex-Cincinnati councilman, Paul Booth as saying, "We will be judged not by what we say but by what we do"
So does this mean you can say whatever because you won't be judged or that you will be judged for breaking your promises ?
Maybe words are just hot air said for one's convenience. Maybe they represent what you do. What is significant about Booth's words? Apparently nothing.

ZOMNADO

OK grade Z horror movie makers, here's my idea. You can have it.
As people are opting more and more for cremation, the severity of a zombie apocalypse is quickly deteriorating to a 'zombie problem'.
But what if the ashes / cremains came back & blew in the wind like in dustbowl times and people couldn't keep them out of their homes, off their bodies & out of their noses, mouths and lungs. The powdered zed could wreak havoc on the warmie flesh bags from within.
And since people are so fond of dumping people's cremains into rivers, lakes & oceans, they could come in in liquified states via beaches, river beds and even through the plumbing.
When you combine this double whammy ~ boy fucking howdy ~ ZOMNADO !!.
you're welcome

So, OK, my only problem with this is - if the heat has all this kit, how come we have to put up with crack head burglars, crack head hookers, drunk drivers & other auto criminals?
I get why they are not going to go after the drug dealers since they want us stupid and placid but isn't that what the daggone chem-trails are for? I guess maybe that's part of the hookers role, too, tho, so...

A Look Back From 2750

I can only imagine the political debate in Cincinnati if it wanted to float somewhere else...

Thursday, January 22, 2015

Steve Chabot - Nosferatu

In Steve Chabot's latest blogpost, he turns to (sophomoric) humor to debate with himself whether the GOP is dead or not.
While the GOP can field candidates and, when lazy ass Democrats don't bother to vote, win elections, he's not really getting to the real point of the party's life or death.
Apparently, Steve Chabot doesn't know the difference between a zombie & a real live person. But the old GOP was eviscerated by right wing southern Democrats decades ago who pounced on the floundering party like maggots on rotting flesh.
Now, as the Republican Party shambles on, dropping bits & pieces of rotting flesh along the way, it's clear that all that animates it's rotting husk is some maleficent spiritual parasite and not the vibrant soul that once gave it birth. Chabot, of course doesn't grasp this and hears the garbled mutterings of the party as anything he wants. His relation to the party is like Norman Bates' relation to his mother - tormented but always wanting to please - trapped in time.

Who Wants Pot in Ohio ?

In a recent announcement Responsible Ohio said it was launching a ballot initiative to provide for legal marijuana production & sales. Our intrepid research intern immediately pounced on the website for Responsible Ohioans for Cannabis and found some differences in the plan. No surprise because it was a different group with nearly the same name. Indeed, on their FAQs page, there's a message
12/22/2014
Whoever is proposing the 10 growers plan is not us, we are not affiliated with them or even know who they are at this point, other than the fact that they are apparently calling themselves Responsible Ohio. Since we are the Responsible Ohioans for Cannabis, it is extremely suspicious that they have chosen such a similar name.
Responsible Ohioans for Cannabis allows for home growers, a lower tax rate, unlimited licensed commercial growers & amnesty for convicted pot people. Responsible Ohio provides for none of that & limits production to 10 operators.
Responsible Ohio wants to be on the ballot in 2015. Responsible Ohioans for Cannabis is shooting for 2016. The 2016 election sounds more likely to succeed as 2015 will likely have a majority of liberty hating Republicans voting.
I like the Responsible Ohioans for Cannabis plan a lot better but looking at their sites, Responsible Ohio appears to have the $$ advantage & choosing a similar name as the older organization can only muddy the waters. Indeed, our mistaken intern has been reassigned to stable duty, milking the goats.
Personal liberty, new tax revenue, de-criminalizing victimless activity are all good reasons to pursue either initiative. Personally I'd go with a mish mash of the two but I gotta admit, Responsible Ohio looks kinda shady.

Alien Demons ?

here ya go - is demonizing aliens specist? Would shooting down flying saucers be a hate crime? Who knows what kind of laws the Supreme Court will pass due the alien mind control beams that consume them as well as FEMA.

We Can Save Our Malls

While watching the magnificent Mutant Girls Squad, I saw a possible way to our dying malls.
Human Sacrifice
No, not some weeping virgin clerk from Footlocker - a champion of the forces that have brought our once proud malls to their knees.
I propose we kidnap champions of the counterculture and have them engage in mortal combat with our valiant mall security forces. Champions of socialism, champions of urbanism, champions of small business, champions of ecommerce fighting to the death in our mall concourses. Once vanquished, our customers, clerks and maintenance personnel can gather and ritually feast on the champion. But not before he is skinned so he can be taxidermiated and put on display in a sacred spot in the mall, like the food court.
This will reinvigorate the shoppers and bring them back to the malls where they can bask in the pinball machine like environment, the bad service, and the mass produced merchandise that hails from exotic third world countries, made with love by barefoot little children.
This can work, brothers and sisters. This will be our destiny.

I'm Blaming the Messenger

Sometimes it's hard to be a booster. Giving all your love to just one hood. You'll have bad times and it will have good times,
Coming up with videos you can't understand...
OK, I have posted some crappy videos promoting Helltown but this one really stinks. It's 2:18 long. Any broadcaster, even the Fountain Square Not-So-Jumbotron wants even times, :15, :30, 1:00....
It lists 4 businesses & no organizations, no churches. The testimonies are vague, some of the grammar is bad and nobody is actually identified. The fade in on the text looks like some kind of retinopathy blind spot.
And what is up with the weird initial font?
It's Northside, not North Side. That's ,like, Sharonville or something.
Sure it's just north of UC but it has easy highway access & easy downtown access. It has great bus connectivity as well as bicycle connectivity.
The over repetition at the end blows & the music just cutting off is ridiculous. It could have faded out or the video could have been lengthened or shortened to fit the music.
I shouldn't be a jerk but it's kinda like in Mad Men when the guy wants to sell Jaguar's like used Fords on the radio, ya know?
oh, well, guess I'm just a prudish snob.

Drive Your Bike

In this bike safety clip, where English seems to be a second language for the cast, we see the elements of traffic safety discussed from a bicyclist POV.
Note that "Taking the Lane" is never mentioned and stupid mushroom cap helmets are never mentioned. You see, these aberrations are only recently introduced to our society by militantly entitled pencil neck geeks.
The anti Dobbsian approach to cycling will eventually be the last nail in the tire of the bicycling movement but it won't be seen til everyone is tethered to a driverless car and then it will be too late.

A Cold Dark Night

This picture from Wired and the time of season reminded me of the story of Dr Richard Allison crawling out of bed in the middle of the night & riding his horse from present day downtown Cincinnati to Charlotte Chambers Ludlow's place in present day Northside around 1800.
There was, of course no artificial light, no paved roads, no heated leather seats. Well, the horse...
Not knowing the date, there's no way to know the phase of the moon nor how cloudy it was. Back then, the night sky in Cincinnati was clear and crowded with stars. Still, it must have been a dark, cold. lonely trip.

Ideology & Horror

This is an odd test about psychology & ideology.
I tend to believe that people who hate themselves tend to swing left, people who swing right have a tendency towards paranoia & agoraphobia. This is my opinion based on my studies at the Van Pelt school of psychology.
In the article it states:
One finding? That conservatives respond much more rapidly to threatening and aversive stimuli (for instance, images of "a very large spider on the face of a frightened person, a dazed individual with a bloody face, and an open wound with maggots in it,"
This intrigues me since I am a big horror fan. While I might respond rapidly to some of these images, it would be with a, "WOAH! Cool!" and not with a knee jerk revulsion. Not sure what the scientists were looking for.
I tend to see myself as more of an old school conservative and not the paranoid reactionary type that claims the description today. I see the so called modern liberal as being more closed minded, insular and controlling and not open to new things at all.
Ravi Iyer of the University of Southern California), who note that "successfully monitoring and attending negative features of the environment, as conservatives tend to do, may be just the sort of tractable task…that is more likely to lead to a fulfilling and happy life than is a constant search for new experience after new experience."
Unfortunately, I think these scientists are taking a fairly biased view here based on popular society.
Of course that is the society we live in, so...

Bakshi's Ass

Robert Crumb's bid for solidarity with Charlie Hebdo shows an extremely detailed illustration of Mohammed's butt. Crumb cautions that it is not the butt of a prophet but the butt of a film maker, however.
FWIW, Robert Rodriguez has taken on the task of creating a live action movie (that will undoubtedly use massive CG) of Fire & Ice, a collaboration of Frank Frazetta & Ralph Bakshi in 1983. Sony has purchased the film, so who knows WHAT will ranspire....

Armageddon

In a sign of the imminent end times, The Fountain Square South parking garage will be closed temporarily. This, of course, comes on the heels of the street parking rate hike forced on us by the dreaded and maybe not so human, John Cranley.
A master stroke, carried out with Illuminati like precision. No doubt parking rates will quintuple when the garage reopens later this spring.
Who knows how many people will vanish, lost, searching in vain for a parking spot for eternity like so many Parking Dutchmen. How many will succumb to the ghastly cravings of C.H.U.D. as they shamble from remote parking lots to their places of employment?
oh, the humanity

The Republic of Cincinnati

Having no interest in professional sports, it's not often that I read any sports articles especially ones written by someone named "Doc".
This story, however looks at a sports issue in Cincinnati - that the Porktowners don't give a crap about OSU sports.
Well, yeah, but for the most part, Cincinnatians don't give much of a rodent's rear about Ohio in general. When I first moved to the Queen City about 30 years ago, I thought I had moved to an extension of Kentucky. Later I realized I was just in an Ohio community that has no relation to Ohio. I have been told Northern Kentucky has little to do with mainland Kentucky as well.
This doesn't do Cincinnati to well in Ohio politics. Heck, we have fat ugly suburbanite legislators who single Cincinnati out for the denial of funding. And nobody else in Columbus seemed to have had an issue with it.
As a lawmaker, ex Cincinnati mayor Charlie Luken has brought up the disconnect.
Ask yourself, how often do you see an Ohio flag flying in Cincinnati? There's probably more UK flags flying. But up in Dayton, Urbana, Tremont City & Columbus, it's pretty common.
A new state with the border of I275 would probably make a lot of sense. This 'Doc' character has only scratched the surface of this area's alienation from it's states.

The Need to test Politicians for Human DNA

Dude, here, in Campbell County KY, is a perfect example of why we need to test politicians to see if they are actually human beings, subterranean aliens or just Boogie Boys. While maybe just being a mutant - better safe than sorry.

I will Sunbathe on Your Grave !

OK, so "I will sunbathe on your grave" probably isn't as tough a threat as "I will spit/piss/dance on your grave but you might give it a shot next time you're bitching at somebody. When these two women did it they drew a lot of ire, one guy saying the women should be buried alive.
I see no problem with it as long as they clean off any oils they might have slimed the slabs with. Ths person taking the picture might have been the creepiest person in the mess.
Thig is, I have always liked bench type gravestones & I would hope people for generations to come might sit for a spell. No dress code, profanity, smoking, drinking AOK.
I don't know if sunbathing is allowed in cemeteries in general. Cincinnati's Spring Grove Cemetery has some secluded areas currently but I don't know their rules.
Anyway, if you don't want people lying on your grave, you can always put iron spikes all over it.

Humor in Disaster

As I have mentioned before, Horror Sells. Well, there's also humor in disaster. Heck, that's basically the whole idea behind slapstick. Take laurel & Hardy or the Three Stoofes, their pain & suffering was hilarious. In the past we enjoyed the humor of war. Hilarious romps in the South Pacific WWII in McHale's Navy, the raascally shenanigans Nazi POWs had in Hogan's Heroes, thie hyjinks of the Korean War in MASH, Viet Nam in Catch 22.
There's even more fun in apocalypse movies like This is the End & Shaun of the Dead.
Who can't forget the Cold War laugh riot, Dr Strangelove? The futuristic dark slapstick of Sleeper?
OK, so why the uproar about a comedy set in the Irish Potato Famine?
Monty Python set all sorts of humor against the backdrop of medieval poverty & desperation, the Spanish Inquisition, slavery & whatnot. What's changed?
Is it the rise of mamby pambyism or is it just plummeting self confidence fueled by 'liberal' self hatred?

The Holy Order of the GOP

These guys get at what I call, The Holy Order of the GOP. They get at why youngun's aren't going to the old churches. Schaeffer is, apparently an Eastern Orthodox Christian which kinda sets him apart with the wild evangelical christians even tho he & his parents were involved with establishing 'The Moral Majority' movement.
Frankly I see the same movement under many names, The Silent Majority, The Moral Majority, Neocons, The Tea Party... All basically the same & changing nuances over time to take over a political party. The fervor of the GOP is a good match for these guys. The corporate message that resonates in the religioustic orders is both silly and frightening.
Anyway, I'm no great fan of these guys but they're pretty right on this.

The War

Is Cincinnati's new parking meter policy, which introduces Sunday enforcement, part of the Global War on Christianity?
Canceling Sunday bus hours, starting Sunday streetcar hours late, are all on the table as the Regime of John Cranley moves to make it harder for people to get to church.
This seems to be in line with the plans of the alien insectoids to break the will of the human race, first with poisonous miniature drone/bug bites and now the death of religion in a thousand cuts sort of strategy.

The Art of Propaganda

This short Dutch movie is kinda cool. Since it never shows the woman talking it can be overdubbed in any language. Heck, you could just bag the script & make it a zombie movie. Well, if you can read what's written on the bodies, maybe not...
Anyway, as people use their religion to square any deviant, antisocial thing they want to do you could apply almost any religion to this piece, too.
But most people wouldn't slaughter the director to prove how wonderful their religion was.

Passing

Cincinnati, known for it's cultural heritage, had a great venue in Newport, KY in the 1980s, The Jockey Club.
It was owned by a couple brothers and when approached by a young man who wanted to book punk acts, they said yes. That young man was Bill Leist.
While Leist was young & idealistic, the men who owned the venue had been around. They had hosted country, metal, rock, so punk? They said the country audience was generally the worst & the punk audience about the best.
Well, till the last show when the audience tore the place apart for souvenirs. The brothers had sold the building to the cab company next door who wanted to expand their parking facilities.
Leist was able to bring in touring acts and then he got bands from the local scene to do opening acts. The Damned, Black Flag, The Ramones, Tupelo Chain Sex, Jah Wobble, Johnny Thunders, The Cramps, DOA, White Zombie, Husker Du, The Dead Kennedys shared the stage with the likes of SS-20, The Auburnaires, The Afghan Whigs, The Mortals, Sluggo, Doc & the Pods, The Thangs, The Edge, Dementia Precox, The Ass Ponys & Leist's own, The Reduced.
Bill Leist died 12/29/14. He was preceded in death by The Jockey Club, Shorty & his brother.
It seemed like forever but was less than 10 years. Probably the most comparable scene was Jim Tarbell's Ludlow Garage about 10 years earlier.

The Test

A lot of people come to this site looking for porn so I did a test a few weeks ago to see if I would get a lot of hits. I titled it, Celebrity Nude Pics.
It had no content, just that title and a list of 10 current female celebrities (I had to look up who was popular, didn't know half of them...).
It didn't garner a lot of hits. I didn't have any links or pictures other than an old TV test pattern.
Nobody bitched at me.
I think I conclusively proved pretty much nothing.

Greensleeves

My old man liked Wes Montgomery's version...

Things to Come

The 1936 movie, Things to Come starts out on Christmas Day 1940 in 'Everytown'. War promptly follows, lasts for years, plunges the planet into the stone age til a group of engineers builds a new technocracy that saves the day - or does it.
Theoretically the Brits canned it because they didn't want any pesky anti-war sentiment when Germany & Italy were rattling their sabers.
Great apocalyptic holiday fare!

Fat Aliens ?

Neil deGrasse Tyson takes on the commonly argued question of whether space aliens are fat or not. In his typical liberal specist manner, concludes that space aliens like goats are not fat.
Perhaps primitive silicon based space aliens living on primitive silicon based planets foraging over crystal mountains rising up out of methane seas would be skinny, who cares? What we want to know is, what about the aliens seeking to come to earth and enslave us like so many Princess Leias.
3 things come to mind.
A. - the aliens will not be doing a lot of physical labor on their trip to earth. They will likely use flesh eating robots and mind control beams to conquer us. So, conceivably they could get pretty damn fat.
B. - Space rations might really suck & be in short supply as well. They might look like prison camp dwellers and why not? They still have their mind control rays & flesh eating robots...
C. - BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, if they are shape shifting aliens, what's it matter. Tyson completely ignores this factor.
There's a reason Tyson's job application at Blogging isn't Cool got folded up & was sent sailing out the window.
Furthermore, is Santa Claus an alien?

Common Sense in Columbus ?

Seems a little wack to think that the governor & legislators of the Buckeye State could come up with anything rational nowadays. Investing in more asphalt, subsidizing sprawl, reducing transparency & shoving more religionist BS down our throats seems to be their only game.
But Lt Governor Mary Taylor has implemented a 'Common Sense Initiative to reduce red tape & make doing business in Ohio easier in a way that benefits small business people.
This article describes how the changes helped a guy start up a micro brew pub in lofty Bellefontaine, Ohio.
We need more of this in Ohio.

Stiffs & Land Use

The population bulge of Baby Boomers is kicking the bucket & their wave of influence is heading to the graveyards. The thing is, more and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial. 42% of people are opting for cremation nowadays & that's freeing up some real estate in the boneyard while, at the same time, sparking an uptick in columbarium construction.
This could be another opportunity for the City of Cincinnati to exploit the vacant land at Wesleyan Cemetery on it's wester (rear) side.
The financial dept at Blogging Isn't Cool is all tied up decorating for Saturnalia right now so I can't give good numbers on what the ROI for a columbarium at the site would be but it would have to be better than just letting it sit there.

Sometimes the barrel of a gun is just the barrel of a gun

There's been a trend over the years that hasn't been proper;y identified. People calling it out as being a race issue are muddying the waters & undermining real solutions.
The big news was out of Ferguson, MO where a cop killed a guy who was acting in a belligerent manner. A cop in Cleveland killed a 12 year old without really assessing the situation. In Beavercreek, OH cops killed a guy in a Wal Mart who was fidgeting with a pellet gun while BSing with his girlfriend on the phone in the pet food aisle. In Atlanta a campus cop killed a student for basically walking around stoned. A few years ago a Cincinnati man was shot while being questioned by police when he threw a knife to the side.
Some of the police were white, some black. Some of the killed were white, some black.
People who know how to stir the race pot are fixating on white police killing black suspects while ignoring the unnecessary killings of white suspects, especially when killed by black cops. While some of the folks were resisting arrest, others were not. Some of the cases involved completely unreliable 911 calls & the police failing to properly assess the situation when they arrived on the scene. Cherry picking along racial lines & lumping the killings together misses the true police failings.
The problem is not racism. If the white police of America were really conspiring to wipe out black America, they would be done by now.
The problem is trigger happy cops who feel they can kill with impunity because they have a badge.
and, pr their indictments, that's pretty much the case.
The latest instance of the shoot first, ask questions later was the slaughter of a mountain lion in Paris, KY.
So, you see, it's not just relegated to killing people - it's pretty much anything that moves.
Fixating on the phony genocide issue does no good. Lumping real criminal activity with non criminal activity does no good. The armed vs unarmed crap makes no sense. The problem is issuing lethal weapons to twitchy people, not issuing non lethal alternative weapons to these people & not training these guys to be patient and to properly assess situation on scene.
And we need to focus on that and not on incidental coincidences.

The Bizarre World of John Cranley

Cincinnati's mayor< John Cranley, who has never proved he is a human and not a shape shifting alien chimera/lizard/bug/man thing, has concluded that an infrastructure project at $85,000 under budget, is a financial disaster.
He's made these claims before when he blew millions of $ to come up with the same numbers the 'incompetent' staff had already come up with.
In other news, he has halted a sewer project mid stream with no input from the Sewer District of county commissioners.

Apple Street Market posts a video with more mushy music to promote their CoOp market in Cincinnati's Northside neighborhood.
The lady discussing the amount of time it takes to get to the nearest Kroger ain't kidding. Fortunately, I can still ride a bike but that's not always possible in the winter.

An Observation

As the Ohio legislature passes another clever law that renders traffic cameras useless, 2 of the supporters for this legislation have run afoul of the law. Dale Mallory was convicted of an ethics violation and Bill Seitz was ironically nailed by traffic camera.
When the lawless legislate, is it any wonder we get the legislation we get?

The Eurofication of Transportation in Cincinnati

Back that trolley up a bit to see the true meaning of this diabolical logo.
Not content to have sister cities in socialist foreign countries, now Cincinnati is introducing a logo for their commie style streetcar, so popular with left wing progressives, that masks it's true symbolism - The Euro.
Hell bent on destroying the Godly American life of the freedom loving Americans, Cincinnati is being saddled not only with obsolete transportation options, the liberals want to force the Eurozone currency on us, too. Not all at once, of course, this is just a subliminal way of softening us up to the the corrupt socialist European lifestyle.
Just watch - the conductors will speak French. Don't say I didn't warn you...

Tax Friendliness v. Tax Subsidy

2 maps with an iteresting contrast. One rates states tax friendliness for small businesses & the other shows the donor & receiver states in relation to how much they send to DC as opposed to how much they get back.
Amazingly, a lot of the states that get back more than they put in have friendlier tax rates than the states who subsidize them. A lot of the 'friendlier' states have low population density hence loess infrastructure to maintain and, obviously fewer people to support the small businesses.

NASA Triggers the Eschaton

Deros worshipping NASA scientists seek to make a new solar system and possibly destroying Earth in the process.
Exploding satellites into the large planets of Jupiter & Saturn will trigger explosions starting a runaway fusion reaction that will turn the planets into stars making their satellites warm enough for the Transhumans.
The explosions are expected to shed 10% of the planets' mass & send it careening towards Earth with potentially catastrophic results. But will Earth be destroyed or will some of the planets, Like Earth and Mars just go into figure eight orbits around the two suns? Could the massive explosions result in restoring Mrs' atmosphere?
Will the transhumans, under Walt Disney's cyborg rule, rule on Callisto & Ganymede and control the people of Earth and Mars with their mind control rays?
Is this, in fact, the birth of a New Solar System Order controlled by technocrats & their Shape Shifting Alien Lizardmen allies?
Stay Tuned.

ELVIS !

After years in Las Vegas & Hollywood, Elvis Presley made a 'comeback' TV special in 1968 where he shed the Hollywood persona & got back to his R&R roots with the band that made him famous but Hollywood rejected.
As Quimette said, "damn, that guy was sexy"
and he could rock!

Heading Up the Ohio Democratic Party

As lazy, liberal Democrats didn't bother to vote in the last election because, apparently, they love big intrusive government running their lives, the hunt is on for a new head of the Ohio party.
Short of resurrecting Hitler or Stalin, here's my ideas. Granted, some of them would have to move back to Ohio, but the leftist liberals said they were AOK with right wing loons when the liberals running just didn't get them excited, so, let's aim for excitement & entertainment. Resurrecting John Robinson & bringing back his circus with acrobats & trained animals to get the libs excited, but, again, we just can't resurrect these geniuses.
So, let's go
◈ Drew Carey - gets off on literacy & choreography, his experience on Who's Line Is It Anyway would prepare him to vet prospective candidates.
◈ Ariel Castro - he knows how to keep people in line
◈ Nancy Cartwright - her funny voices might actually get the attention of the comatose party members
◈ Charles Manson - great leadership skills
◈ Traci Lords - personal charisma, people skills
◈ Cheetah Chrome - small businessman, can get attention, not afraid to spit on the general assembly
◈ Ed O'Neill - smart funny guy who probably has no problem swingin' a 2x4 up the side of your head
◈ Jerry Springer - smart funny guy who always ended his news shows with heartwarming bits of blah
◈ The Naked Cowboy - why not?

OGG

I like the concept of OGG. It provides a free way to display media on the intertubes. Kinda like PNG replacing GIF when Compuserve decided they wanted $$ for something people had been using freely for years. Similarly, the guy who came up with MP3 decided he wanted royalties years after the file format had become popular (years after it had been created & shelved), so OGG is the way to go if you aren't rolling in the bucks & don't want to use YouTube & their horrible compression.
Ogg is a free, open container format maintained by the Xiph.Org Foundation. The creators of the Ogg format state that it is unrestricted by software patents and is designed to provide for efficient streaming and manipulation of high quality digital multimedia.
While most browsers support OGG, Apple & Microsoft do not. There are plug ins for their browsers, however.
Well, there were. With Apple's 'upgrades' the OGG plug ins are now broken.
It wouldn't cost a thing for these behemoths to support the formats, Theora & Vorbis. I have read that Apple & Microsoft might fear patent challenges, but, apparently Google & Opera don't have those fears.
But Mozilla, Opera & Google don't have their own media file formats. I am sure that implementing support for these file formats would shutter both companies in a week.
Seriously, boys, just plug in the code & let it be. Your stuff is better but sometimes people just want to post videos of lamb chops in space.

Man Sends Lamb Chop Into Space

While everybody was watching Rosetta & Philae chasing a comet a few billion miles away, ome guy in England sent a Tandoori Lamb Chop into space with a helium balloon.
While space exploration used to be the sole domain of Russkie & American space programs, other people are getting involved now with exploration & satellites & other crap. The private sector getting into exploring the final frontier is just another piece of the puzzle.

Another One Bites the Dust

Just found out another bit of my past has been demolished.
Schools, concert halls, bars, downtowns…
all gone
My first apartment in Cincinnati has, apparently been demolished. 7 years, a dead cat & an old girlfriend who won't talk to me. All gone.

The Clever GOP

Instead of leading with bold ideas embracing liberty, the Ohio GOP is, instead, being clever in imposing it's self interests onto the state.
Traffic monitoring cameras are OK if you don't use them.
Women's health clinics are OK if you can jump through enough hoops and hit constantly moving targets.
Their legislation is bloody and will result in many deaths, mutilations and ruined lives. The anti abortion efforts will result in more women dying of cancer, a spread in sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted children growing up dysfunctional and winding up in a world of insanity, vice & drugs. Their deluded efforts to thwart the use of cheap technology will squander the talents of highly trained police officers, & lead to potentially dangerous car chases. The lack of traffic enforcement will lead to more mayhem on the streets with motorists losing control of their vehicles while operating them at irrational & illegal speeds. Pedestrians, cyclists (motor & manual) and other motorists will routinely be T-boned and killed, maimed & crippled.
They can pat each other on the back and cheer their cleverness but those drinks they are toasting with might as well be blood.

Cults

On this date in 1978, almost 1,000 people in Jim Jones' Jonestown compound committed suicide at the will of their leader.
Locally an Ohio legislator & the head of a local organization, Ark by the River Fellowship Ministries, were convicted of receiving stolen property. Prosecutors labelled the organization a cult.
Some might argue that any religion is a cult but in my peabrain, a cult puts the leader above it's followers. That was the case of The Peoples Temple & The Branch Davidians.
Wonder if we'll get any more details on this. At least it wasn't a violent ending.

LWV Condemns American Art

The Greater Cincinnati League of Women Voters has decided to ally itself with Wallace Stegner in condemning the iconic American art form, The Comic Book.
Stegner, a writer, had no qualms about tearing through the forests for his tomes but condemns the use of wood for other writers and artists. While some comic book publishers have definitely used recycled paper I can't find any info on whether it is anything standard. Nowhere, could I find any info about Stegner's voluminous tomes using recycled paper.
It appears to be common elitism like what CO    founder, Tom Brinkman preaches about how libraries should only use books and no other mediums.
What's next? Getting together with the CCV & espousing Frederic Wertham ?

Article 246

Should the Cincinnati Charter Review Task Force consider adding something similar to the Haitian Criminal Code's Article 246 into the Cincinnati City Charter?
Is considered a poisoning any attempt on the life of a person through the use of substances which can cause death more or less cleanly, regardless of the manner in which these substances were used or administered, and regardless of the consequences.
Is also considered attempt on life by poisoning the use made against a person of substances which, without giving death, will cause a more-or-less prolonged state of lethargy, regardless of the manner in which these substances were used and regardless of the consequences.
If the person was buried as a consequence of this state of lethargy, the attempt will be considered a murder.
Enacted in 1884, it basically makes making zombies through the use of potions & such, illegal & pretty much an act of murder.
While zombification isn't a huge issue in Cincinnati, better safe than sorry. You can let the task force know about your concern to nip zombification in the bud here

New Paths

As some of my more sober minions might have noticed, there's a new page in town - The Blogging isn't Cool Recipe Page. There's a link on the top right
Yes, the secrets from the Qitchen of Quimbob are revealed.
One of the first concoctions I came up with after moving to Porkopolis & being introduced to the local chili was my own version that went for hot rather than sweet & added mushrooms. I wanted to call it Omniway or Manyway but my girlfriend called it Shit and Shit stuck…
Recipes are weird. They are handed down from generation to generation but most come from the Woman's Home Companion Cookbook or Betty Crocker or off the label of a soup can…
When I moved out of my parent's house, my mom wrote down some recipes for me. I couldn't do it myself because what she had written for herself was littered with ^$%! short hand. But that doesn't matter much because I can't read her handwriting anyway. (This is the woman who taught me to write cursive, too.)
Anyway, I will add more later so that YOU can be as fat & ugly as I am someday.

Goodbye Earl

So, this chick is proposing a new funeral / body disposing concept for her thesis. She's calling it The Urban Death Project
The idea is to return your body to the earth by dumping it into a giant composting bin full of wood chips. The compost would then be redistributed to family & the community.
No expensive funeral tying up loads of resources & putting scary chemicals into the ground.
The idea of carrying the body up 2-3 flights of ramp gives me the impression that the designer has never been a pall bearer, tho…
Anyway, there's probably room to install something like this in the city owned Wesleyan Cemetery in Cincinnati.

The Culture of Lies

We are fortunate to have these truth tellers when the world is awash with ridiculous lies and fabrications of the Illuminati, CO   , & their alien overlords.
Folks, the MSM won't tell you this but every one of man's forays into space has been thwarted by the aliens that orbit the earth in cloaked flying saucers.
Just think for a minute MSM in numerology winds up being the number 9. Remember the Beatles song, "Revolution #9"? That was Paul McCartneys alien doppleganger trying to warn us - The Revolution WILL be Televised, but it won't be the real revolution, that's going to be broadcast in subliminal messages.
Can we wait for the reanimation, Walt Disney, master of the ancient sciences, Magick, to be revived from his cryogenically frozen state to lead us into victory over the dark forces that stand to engulf us and ultimately reduce 9/10 of the human race into being nothing more than slave batteries?
The time is now to immanentize the eschaton and take our rightful destiny.

Super Assholes

So, a salesman was decompressing on the patio of a bar in a skyscraper in Chicago when this guy comes up to him, drink in hand, and strikes up a conversation with the salesman.
Guy - "hi, you from out of town?"
Salesman - "yeh, from Milwaukee. I'm here to see a client."
Guy - "Nice town, spent a month there one week"
Salesman - "uh, yeh…"
Guy - "y'know, this is kind of unique but, because of the updraft here, you can jump off the patio and the wind will catch you and bring you right back up."
Salesman - "heh, yeah, man, I'm not that drunk…"
Guy - "no, really, it's pretty fun. Here, hold my drink for a minute."
Salesman - "what? NO, don't do it!!"
The guy proceeds to climb over the railing & hop off the patio.
The salesman rushed to the railing & watched the guy's fall slow down & then stop & then he started to rise - coming back up to the patio and getting deposited on the patio.
The salesman stared in disbelief as he handed the guy his drink.
Guy - "dude, it's exhilarating, you should try it"
Salesman - "oh man, they're not going to believe this back home!"
The salesman went over the railing & off the patio, pulling out his iPhone to take a selfie of himself flying around Chicago.
He plummeted down & down & hit the roof of a car, crushing the roof & killing the people in the car.
The guy looked down over the railing & laughed at the carnage, horror & panic. Then he strolled over to the bar to get another drink.
Bartender - "Superman, you are a real asshole when you get drunk.."

Are Boom Gates the Answer ?

As Cincinnatians are complaining about motorists speeding down neighborhood streets & blowing through red lights and stop signs, perhaps boom gates, usually seen at railroad crossings, be an effective way to slow down motorists and actually make them stop at intersections?
Since Luminaries like Chris Smitherman, Dale Mallory & the fine folks at CO    have fought hard to make traffic monitoring electronics near impossible, maybe this is what we need to do. It would be expensive setting up the network but it would still be cheaper than stationing police officers everywhere 24 hours a day in running police cruisers.
The gates can run on solar nowadays so no pesky wiring is needed. The gates would also have to be low enough to stop recumbent bike riders. But they could also be placed along long stretches of road just to slow down the impatient motorists.
oh, what the hell, the cage jockeys would just slam through the dang things….

Death Tech

I posted about this earlier, but here you can just watch & listen to Dr. John Troyer talk all the same shit that was in the Atlantic article. The early adoption of technologies by the death industry seems only rivaled by the sex industry. Think of that.
The biomass eating robots might com in handy when everybody in Texas dies of ebola.
I'm still hoping for the evolving music & speech shit.

I'm Gonna Be a Diamond Some Day

Yet another new way to dispose of your carcass when you die. Get cremated & then have your cremains pounded down & heated up till you wind up with a diamond suitable for jewelry or whatever. Have your spouse put it in a necklace and you can still 'hang around' after you're gone.
It would be an interesting plot development in a murder mystery about a black widow type serial killer.
Anyway, it ain't cheap.

Selling Luxury Caskets

probably NSFW

I'm guessing that the funeral industry in Poland is heavily dominated by men. Of course Poland also boasts the highest number of exorcists per capita in the world. 2015 marks Lindner's 5th year of glamour / nudie calendars for their 'luxury' caskets. I don't know if luxury means multiple cup holders, USB connections or what.
So, do the exorcists have calendars?

The Big Plan

Illuminati? Neo-Nazis? The Crusades? New World Order?
check,check,check, and check
So, this Golden Dawn guy says of the ebola outbreak in Africa
"Once in a while the papers report some good news, splendid news actually. Spread of Ebola wiping out whole villages and communities in Africa – I mean, what more does one want?"
Eliminating the inferior is always a good thing for the master race.
And what about this ebola epidemic?
It appears that it's a man made plot to depopulate the world so as to conserve the planet's resources for a transhuman Illuminati super race.
This measure is proposed as a measure to help the creation of a planet inhabited by ‘immortal’ superhumans, using scientific and technological movements such as transhumanism.
In addition, the chairman’s alleged words also talk of enslaving humanity to ‘classical wage labour’, continuing a system of mass production and mass consumption and the allocation of wealth.
I, for one, being a member of the master race, can't wait to be an immortal transhuman with a bunch of slaves.
and sexbots….

Is the War Already Over ?

More cute, cuddly robots in entertainment…
Could it be that the CGI is actually the product of the machine army and not, as we are prone to believe, the product of talented human animators? Have they already taken over and are now just softening us up? Divide us? Take all our money? Take all our women?
Perhaps the shape shifting alien lizard men will be our saviors….

Cunning little minx of a robot divides man against man in the robots' mad conquest of humanity in the movie, Ex Machina.

Somebody needs to make a Magnus - Robot Fighter movie.

Winburn v. Thomas

wotta show. Dan Hurley hosts Chas Winburn & Cecil Thomas on Halloween.
Winburn is, as usual, full of bluster, strange factoids and a bizarre notion that he is a qualified a Republicrat.
Thomas seems to grasp that the state legislature is not a city council but I am not so sure Winburn grasps this.
The claims of who Cranley supports is semi bizarre as is Winburn's claims of creating 4,400 jobs in 12 months. Economic Development Zones in Cincinnati was pretty much a corrupt failure, no idea why Winburn wants to re-invent them. His dismissal of JobsOhio is fairly incredible.
I really expected this to be a complete wash and, while Thomas isn't a great candidate, he clearly is better than the Windbag.
So I guess Winburn will be the hands down fovorite in the Bizarro world of SWOH politics.

Remembering Tom Brinkman

While the Democrats are continuing to run weak candidates & giving the GOP a cakewalk in SWOH, let's take a look back at the COA   founder's record.
From 2 years ago, Blogging Isn't Cool

COA T Co-Founder, Tom Brinkman, is running for the 27th House District in the March 6th primary. Brinkman spent eight years representing the 34th District of Ohio. He apparently is unable to wean himself off the public teat.
Brinkman has sought a seat in congress twice only to have his ass handed to him by eerily hot Jean Schmidt. In his time in the Ohio house he has garnered a reputation for being hard to deal with. He has wasted taxpayers time and money pushing legislation he admitted would not pass. He used state money to buy grills for his neighborhood's park. At one point Columbus Monthly rated Brinkman "the single worst legislator in the 132-member General Assembly".
"Those surveyed ranked him as least knowledgeable, least hardworking, least likable, least compassionate, and least savvy."
When not trying to control your sister's uterus, Brinkman has been adamant about denying civil rights to homosexuals. That landed him in some hot water when his petition circulators falsified documents. The judge in the case, Ruehlman, a Republican, had this to say:
"I still think the real culprit is Rep. Brinkman.
I know politics, somehow (Brinkman) falls between the cracks and is not prosecuted - the guy in power is the one who should have been indicted."
Brinkman's shady politicking goes beyond sex, tho. His moral crusade led him to another ballot scheme funded by out of state entities & his teaming up with ministers who proclaimed,
a tax hike would be preferable to slots
And, Brinkman's efforts to stop slots in Ohio did indeed result in higher taxes for Ohioans. Mysteriously Brinkman & his cronies didn't try to stop a Republican governor from putting slots in race tracks. In fact one of those cronies is actually serving in Kasich's administration.
Lately Brinkman has railed against libraries having media other than books on their shelves.
Despite Brinkman's efforts to outlaw abortion in Ohio, Ohio Right to Life has not given him their endorsement in this latest election cycle.
The Cincinnati Enquirer (R) had this to say about Brinkman:
"The issue here is Brinkman's lack of effectiveness.
Few lawmakers are as honest, principled and consistent as Brinkman. But he exhibits those qualities to a fault, coming off as stubborn, ideologically rigid and unwilling to compromise. He's made many enemies in Columbus by refusing to see anyone else's side of things. This has limited his ability to work with others and get things done."
Obviously, Enquirer editors have a different view of ethics than Judge Ruehlman.
Brinkman, with his convenient morals, his inability to work with others, his shady dealings & unethical politicking, is clearly NOT a good choice for Ohio.
